The Master Gun FN SCAR 16 Sound Effects library is recorded using a large array of various microphone configurations, we recorded shots from several distances in an open shooting range in the Nevada Desert.

Weapon Information

The FN SCAR 17 Standard is a robust battle rifle designed by FN Herstal, optimized for superior firepower and long-range accuracy. Chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, it offers powerful stopping power and reliable performance in various combat scenarios.

The rifle weighs 7.9 lbs and features a 20-round magazine capacity. It operates using a short-stroke gas piston system with a rotating, locking bolt, ensuring consistent performance under demanding conditions.

Key features include: – Monolithic aluminum receiver with MIL-STD-1913 accessory rails – Adjustable folding front and folding/removable rear backup iron sights – Telescoping, side-folding stock with adjustable cheekpiece – Cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined, free-floating barrel (operator-changeable) – Fully ambidextrous controls (selector lever, magazine release, charging handle) – Adjustable gas regulator for use with sound suppressors – Steel magazine with extended base pad and low-friction follower.

The FN SCAR 17 Standard’s combination of power, accuracy, and adaptability makes it a favorite military and law enforcement units worldwide.

Raw Recordings

Our raw shots features a total of 28 channels including 13 Stereo and 2 mono sources. All of our close and mid spaced pair Microphone options can be used as two independent mono microphones. The right side of every spaced pair will have more Mech than its left side counterpart.

Every single gun has been recorded using the same gain settings on the same recorders, and we have level matched each microphone option between the same calibers so your 50ft microphones will be the same or similar across all libraries that share the same calibers. This makes mixing large amounts of weapons easier as the loudness and character of each gun is predictable.

Our foley features a total of 4 audio channels with 1 Stereo and 2 mono sources, including the Sanken CO-100k which captures frequencies above 100kHz for extreme pitch shifting workflows.

Suppressed Recordings

In addition to the unsuppressed shot recordings, we’ve also sampled the FN SCAR 16 with a suppressor attachment. The suppressed FN SCAR 16 was sampled right after the unsuppressed recordings using the exact same microphone setup as the unsuppressed version. This provides you a seamless transition between the unsuppressed and the suppressed recordings.

The suppressed recordings also have the added benefit of muting the shot layers which helps bring out the intricate details of the mechanism (mech layers).

Because adding a suppressor to the firearm increases the weapons muzzle velocity, the fire rate of the suppressed weapon is slightly faster than its unsuppressed counterpart.

Why Deliver 32-Bit Float Shots?

There are several advantages in using 32Bit float recordings. One of which is having greater separation from the explosion of the gun and the mech. Because of this, you’ll be able to isolate the mech from each gun and bring out each guns unique characteristics.

32Bit Float files require a slightly different workflow than you might be used to. Other gun sample libraries that use 24 Bit recordings already come pre-compressed/clipped and will be louder than our libraries. when you are working with 32 Bit Float gun recordings you’ll need to compress/clip the recordings in order to get the same loudness.

Metadata

One of the most powerful features included in the Master Gun library is its extensive metadata and tagging. Every single field has been filled out. Every library is compatible with all major sound library management software including Sound Miner, Baeshead, Soundly, etc.

To take advantage of all the metadata features we do recommend using Sound Miner.
