The Master Gun S&W 500 Magnum Sound Effects library is recorded using a large array of various microphone configurations, we recorded shots from several distances in an open shooting range in the Nevada Desert.

Weapon Information

The Smith & Wesson Model S&W 500 is an exceptionally powerful revolver chambered in .500 S&W Magnum, one of the most potent production handgun cartridges available. Introduced in 2003, it is part of the X-Frame series, engineered to handle the extreme pressures and recoil of the .500 Magnum round.

The standard version features an 8.38-inch barrel, giving the revolver an overall length of 15 inches and a weight of approximately 4.5 lbs. Despite its heavy frame, it incorporates a muzzle compensator to reduce recoil and muzzle flip, improving control over the high-powered rounds it fires.

Key features include: Available in multiple barrel lengths for various applications – A muzzle compensator for reduced recoil and improved control – A stainless steel frame and cylinder for durability – Rubberized grips to enhance handling and absorb recoil.

Raw Recordings

Our raw shots features a total of 28 channels including 13 Stereo and 2 mono sources. All of our close and mid spaced pair Microphone options can be used as two independent mono microphones. The right side of every spaced pair will have more Mech than its left side counterpart.

Every single gun has been recorded using the same gain settings on the same recorders, and we have level matched each microphone option between the same calibers so your 50ft microphones will be the same or similar across all libraries that share the same calibers. This makes mixing large amounts of weapons easier as the loudness and character of each gun is predictable.

Our foley features a total of 4 audio channels with 1 Stereo and 2 mono sources, including the Sanken CO-100k which captures frequencies above 100kHz for extreme pitch shifting workflows.

Why Deliver 32-Bit Float Shots?

There are several advantages in using 32Bit float recordings. One of which is having greater separation from the explosion of the gun and the mech. Because of this, you’ll be able to isolate the mech from each gun and bring out each guns unique characteristics.

32Bit Float files require a slightly different workflow than you might be used to. Other gun sample libraries that use 24 Bit recordings already come pre-compressed/clipped and will be louder than our libraries. when you are working with 32 Bit Float gun recordings you’ll need to compress/clip the recordings in order to get the same loudness.

Metadata

One of the most powerful features included in the Master Gun library is its extensive metadata and tagging. Every single field has been filled out. Every library is compatible with all major sound library management software including Sound Miner, Baeshead, Soundly, etc.

To take advantage of all the metadata features we do recommend using Sound Miner.
