The Master Gun RPD Sound Effects library is recorded using a large array of various microphone configurations, we recorded shots from several distances in an open shooting range in the Nevada Desert.

Weapon Information

The RPD (Ruchnoy Pulemyot Degtyaryova) is a light machine gun developed by Vasily Degtyaryov for Soviet forces during World War II. It holds the distinction of being the first machine gun specifically designed to fire the 7.62 x 39mm intermediate cartridge, later used in the AK-47. The weapon has an overall length of 40.9 inches and weighs 16 lbs with an empty drum. It features a fixed barrel, a wooden stock, and is fed from a 100-round non-disintegrating metal belt housed in a drum attached below the receiver.

The RPD light machine gun earned widespread adoption during the Cold War due to its reliability, sustained fire capability, and portability, making it ideal for infantry operations. Its use of the 7.62x39mm cartridge allowed for a compact yet powerful design, balancing firepower and mobility. Though eventually replaced by the RPK in Soviet service, the RPD’s durability and effectiveness ensured its continued use globally, cementing its influence on light machine gun design and its enduring legacy in military history.

Raw Recordings

Our raw shots features a total of 28 channels including 13 Stereo and 2 mono sources. All of our close and mid spaced pair Microphone options can be used as two independent mono microphones. The right side of every spaced pair will have more Mech than its left side counterpart.

Every single gun has been recorded using the same gain settings on the same recorders, and we have level matched each microphone option between the same calibers so your 50ft microphones will be the same or similar across all libraries that share the same calibers. This makes mixing large amounts of weapons easier as the loudness and character of each gun is predictable.

Our foley features a total of 4 audio channels with 1 Stereo and 2 mono sources, including the Sanken CO-100k which captures frequencies above 100kHz for extreme pitch shifting workflows.

Building Blocks:
Our Building Blocks mixes are lightly designed assets which are specifically created to give you a jump start in designing your own gun shots if you don’t want to work with the raw assets.

Modern Mixes:
Inspired by some of our favourite games we’ve crafted an aggressive mix which not only includes a composit mix but also includes the individual layers (Shot, Mech, Tail, Atmo, & Trigger Pull).

Realistic Mixes:
We have also included 3 realistic mixes designed by our recordist so that you can hear exactly what this gun sounded like from the shooters prospective.

All Future Updates For Free

With the purchase of the Master Gun Armoury Bundle you will receive all base library updates for free which can include us recording new samples for the library, re-sampling the entire library with more microphones, new designed mixes, metadata updates, etc.

Why Deliver 32-Bit Float Shots?

There are several advantages in using 32Bit float recordings. One of which is having greater separation from the explosion of the gun and the mech. Because of this, you’ll be able to isolate the mech from each gun and bring out each guns unique characteristics.

32Bit Float files require a slightly different workflow than you might be used to. Other gun sample libraries that use 24 Bit recordings already come pre-compressed/clipped and will be louder than our libraries. when you are working with 32 Bit Float gun recordings you’ll need to compress/clip the recordings in order to get the same loudness.

Metadata

One of the most powerful features included in the Master Gun library is its extensive metadata and tagging. Every single field has been filled out. Every library is compatible with all major sound library management software including Sound Miner, Baeshead, Soundly, etc.

To take advantage of all the metadata features we do recommend using Sound Miner.
